Puma Energy is partnering with Zanaco, Zambia’s largest bank, to develop “micro-finance” solutions for potential LPG consumers unable to afford the upfront cost of purchasing the basic required equipment, but still interested in using LPG as a cleaner cooking alternative.
The PumaGas micro-financing initiative will offer a range of packages, each to include an LPG cylinder, the gas itself and a solution for cooking. A more complete package with a 2-plate stove and accompanying accessories will target the higher income consumer using 9kg and 13kg cylinders, and a more basic package with a simple cooker top will be available for consumers on a limited budget. Through our partnership with Zanaco, consumers will be able to pay for their package in affordable instalments.
The intention is to also explore rolling this out in more residential areas, such as at Puma stations the suburbs of Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola, Solwezi, as well as in some of the Zambian mining communities we serve.
LPG can be a vital source of energy, both for heating homes and for cooking, and is a cleaner solution to wood, charcoal or kerosene.
