Singapore, 21 March 2025: Puma Energy today announced that Jiri Zrust, Head of Trafigura’s Operating Assets division, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Puma Energy, taking over from René Médori from 1 April 2025.
The appointment of Mr. Zrust as Chairman of the Board will further strengthen synergies across Trafigura’s portfolio of assets, while ensuring Puma Energy continues to operate as a separate entity on an arms-length, commercial basis.
The appointment also reflects Trafigura’s new governance strategy for its subsidiary companies as part of the newly created Operating Assets division. The division will bring good practice in private equity and infrastructure investment as it relates to governance and management of Trafigura’s operating subsidiaries, ensuring the necessary level of objectivity, oversight and risk management.
Along with the recent appointment of Mark Russell as Puma Energy CEO, these changes follow Puma Energy’s successful turnaround, where the Board and Executive Management led a restructuring that returned the company to profitability. This was achieved after Trafigura took a controlling stake and integrated Puma Energy into the Group in 2021.
